BARB (Broadcasters Audience Research Board)
BARB
BARB is a website that reviews all of the shows and compares them to what is most popular and when the shows are popular, it also tells you statistics over many years.
Here is an example of how many people used to watch live shows in comparison to catch up.
This graph shows over 11 years that catch-up has become more popular. this is interesting as I watch all of my shows on catch up as I am way to busy to watch it at the time that it comes on.
This then backs up my point before that when a new series comes out that is when a specific show is most popular. As you can see that Catfish is gone but Geordie shore and Teen Mom are still extremely popular.
This graph shows how much the month vary in popularity of show types. This shows that around Christmas time, religious shows are more popular than in the summer time. Also the current affairs are more popular in the summer time, clearly for finding out where about in the summer is the best place to visit.
