Help from the camera man
The other day in our lesson, Mrs Williams bought in one of her friends that was a camera operator who has worked on many films.
He came in and looked at all of our Preliminary tasks, he then assisted us on how we can improve our filming skills. unfortunately we didn't have long enough with him as all the tips were great!
He taught us:
- That you should always keep the same distance from the head of the character to the top of the frame: ( The red line resembles the gap between the head and the top of the frame)
- Also when you shoot someones body, you either shoot from their waist up or their whole body structure as exampled below:
- When you shoot a sitting down scene, you shouldn't have the characters opposite, but to sit opposite the space next to them, for example:
