Diegetic and Non-diegetic sounds
Diegetic sound
Diegetic sound is the sound that is in the film already. So it is what the people in the film can hear, for example: if it showed a person in a park the diegetic sound would be kids screaming and the swings making a streaking sound, because it is a live action from the camera.
Non-diegetic sound
Non-diegetic sound is the sound that has been added into the film. For example when there is music being played over the top of the scene, that is non-diegetic sound.
In my film opening i will use mainly non-diegetic sound as i think that it would be a good way to add suspension.
