Cinematography
Over the past two lessons we have been learning about Cinematography. We have learnt all the different types of shots used to show the emotions of the characters. For example we watched a clip from Chicken Run where one of the chickens had their head chopped off. They filmed the shadow of the action of the scene and as soon as the axe nearly hit the head, the camera flipped to the rest of the chickens to show their emotions, which was jumpy. Also we looked at the angle the camera pointing. To show a character has power you would film from below the waist to make them see high. Also to show how to belittle characters you would film on top of the characters.
We recently looked at how colour can affect the different types of emotions as well. We watched a clip from The Duchess. We discussed who yellow can seem like happiness or give a magical feeling to the scene. Also that red could symbolise love, anger, distraught etc... Blue gives a feeling of sadness or can also seem a bit scary at times. We discussed how brown gives off a disgusting feel where they would use it in areas of poverty and a society that is poor ect...
